    Hundreds turn out for JAKES  Jun 17, 2009
    A total of 475 people 244 of them youth invaded Fort Toulouse/ Jackson State Park for the event the seventh annual JAKES (Jun iors Ac quiring Know ledge, Ethics and Skills) field day hosted by the Elmore County Chap ter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).     Proposal would add tags to state turkey hunting  Feb 24, 2008
    The California State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance (COHA), a hunting activist and lobbying group, are looking to replace the honor system with a mandatory tag system. Turkey hunters would be required to buy tags for up to three bearded birds in the spring, and one tag to cover the one either-sex turkey allowed in the fall in all counties with turkeys except San Diego, where there is no fall turkey hunt.
